We are living in a technologically advanced era, and there’s no doubt that technology has changed our lives or rather made it better in many ways. We have come so far that we have the world at our fingertips. Amidst all these developments it wouldn’t be surprising to have a Robotic Dinosaur to welcome you at the reception of a hotel lobby, would it? Well, the talk is about the concept of Smart Hotels that are already here.
When the giants in the tech world were busy introducing all possible kinds of smart electronics into the market, some just went overboard with their thoughts & ideas, taking the word ‘SMART’ on a whole new dimension and made a Hotel entirely robotized.
A 100% Robotized Hotel concept has been made into reality by none other than the Masters of Electronics, Japan. Apart from the dinosaur receptionist, you will find robot staff all around the Hotel. They not only communicate well but are also very courteous towards the Guests or to put it in the right way they are well programmed to behave. It doesn’t stop there, you also get to have a small robot all to yourself in your room to help you with your queries just like Siri. Smart, indeed!
The concept of a Hotel run by Robots was implemented to help reduce the manual labour so that humans could concentrate more on their creative strives. Here, technology has no doubt gone beyond the skies, just imagine if this kind of concept got widely accepted, what would be the future of the Hospitality Industry?
Not only that to what levels emotional disconnection we would all be putting ourselves into with the over addition of more smart gadgets in to our lives. If robots and similar smart gadgets are going to become the future of Hospitality Industry, then it no longer would be anything about Hospitality which is actually all about the human interaction at its best.
Modern technology is definitely a blessing to mankind but in moderation. As the saying goes “Anything is good in moderation but too much of anything is nothing but your destruction”. Especially, when it comes to the hospitality industry, technology is good to help us serve the guests in a better way but it should never try and replace people who are the true essence of hospitality.
On that note, let us strive to keep the spirit of our Hospitality Industry alive in its very traditional form, with people, their warmth, care and service with a smile.
